[1. The receptacle of the intelligibles is neither a body nor a form of or a faculty in a body]

One thing about which there is no doubt is that in the human being there is a thing, that is,170 a certain substance that obtains intelligibles by receiving [them]. We say that the substance which is the receptacle of intelligibles [R210] is in no way a body, nor subsists in a body, either as a faculty in it or as a form belonging to it.171
